Time Clock is a short, narrative coming-of-age essay set over a concise and personal period of ten years. It introduces readers to Samara Carpenter and Chase Jordan of the Closing Shift Series as they navigate significant changes in their lives and the painful circumstances that mold their characters and catapult them into the complicated and conflicting world of adulthood.

After the untimely death of her parents, Samara moves in with her aunt and uncle to start a new chapter in her life. After secretly watching her older and more experienced cousin, Chase, Samara goes on a trip through her melancholy and her secret sensual cravings. Samara moves from her early adolescent years into the complete actualization of her sexual demands and yearnings which open the door to the consequences that lie ahead in Closing Shift.
